UFC Vegas 49 featured one of the most anticipated fights this year. It was originally headlined by a lightweight bout between Beneil Dariush and Islam Makhachev. However, Dariush was forced to withdraw from the card due to an injury. Ideally, a ranked fighter would step in to take Dariush’s place. Instead, the UFC confirmed that Makhachev would face unranked lightweight Bobby Green as a replacement. Weighing in on the subject on a recent episode of The Allstar, Dan Hooker said he is certain the UFC has asked high-ranking fighters to step in....

The move coincides with the opening of the state-of-the-art UFC Performance Institute in Shanghai, as the UFC looks to make a splash in the lucrative Asian market. Dana White on a potential Nick Diaz return Following Nate Diaz’s UFC 244 loss to Jorge Masvidal, Nick Diaz stated in an interview that he might be open to a return to the Octagon for a potential clash against ‘Gamebred’. However, as per Dana White’s recent claims, fight fans may not get to witness the return of Nick Diaz after all, as the UFC President believes that the latter has lost his passion for fighting....

In case you didn’t know… Having last competed in the Octagon back at UFC 202 in 2016, Nate Diaz hasn’t been active in Octagon competition for the past two and half years since his split decision loss to Conor McGregor at the T-Mobile Arena. In the build-up to Diaz and Poirier’s fight at UFC 230, both fighters have seemingly claimed that the UFC has apparently agreed to inaugurate a brand new 165-pound championship belt for their scheduled bout....

With fight fans still buzzing about Conor McGregor’s history breaking effort against former Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, the Melbourne event flew pretty much under the radar throughout. The fight that was supposed to headline the card, featuring Middleweight title hopefuls Jacare Souza and Rockhold, was pulled in the lead up to the event as the former Champion Rockhold had injured himself in training camp. What was then a co-main event between hometown fighter Robert Whittaker and the hard hitting Brunson, was then moved up to headline the card....

Jared Cannonier’s rise in the UFC Middleweight Division In May of 2019, Jared Cannonier faced middleweight veteran Anderson Silva at UFC 237 and finished off ‘The Spider’ within the very first-round via TKO following a kick to Silva’s right leg that led to the latter being unable to continue the fight. Cannonier’s last Octagon outing took place in September, as he faced Jack Hermansson in the main event of UFC on ESPN+ 18 and defeated the latter via second-round TKO to mark his second win in the Octagon in 2019....

Both fighters have been circling one another for quite some time now. Following Gaethje’s win over Michael Chandler at UFC 268 and Oliveira’s successful title defense against Dustin Poirier at UFC 269, this matchup seemed inevitable. UFC women’s featherweight contender, Megan Anderson, is seemingly upset with the contestants from the 28th season of the UFC’s Ultimate Fighter television series. Anderson is scheduled to fight fellow featherweight Cat Zigano on the preliminary card of the UFC’s last and final event this year, UFC 232, set to take place at The Forum, in Inglewood, California, on December 29th, 2018. Nate Diaz made his return to the UFC in 2015 after sitting out from MMA for over a year. Upon his return, Diaz defeated Michael Johnson at Lightweight and following the win, the former went on to call out Conor McGregor in one of the most iconic post-fight interviews of all time. The heart of the matter Woodley was reportedly set to defend his Welterweight Title against Colby Covington in one of the most highly-awaited Welterweight fights of all time, however, as per a report from ESPN, Woodley is now set to step into the Octagon against ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ Usman....

Everyone will know now, as Oleinik defeated Hunt by submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:26 of the first round to notch the 47th career submission victory of his career. Oleinik now has 12 finishes by rear-naked choke. Oleinik came out the aggressor, wanting to stand and trade with Hunt in mixing up his kicks and punches....

The one name that often is forgotten about? Former two-time welterweight title challenger Stephen Thompson, who battles Anthony Pettis in the main event of Saturday’s UFC Nashville event. Thompson (14-3-1) hasn’t stepped inside the Octagon since his controversial unanimous decision loss to Darren Till back in May. He hoped to get back in there sooner and get the bad taste from that fight out of his mouth But a knee injury suffered during the bout benched him....

While he acknowledges Makhachev as the favorite, Sonnen feels there are aspects to the fight which make it more competitive than it seems. He explained that Green is well aware that his Russian counterpart will try to get him close to the fence before shooting for the legs, so he’ll be prepared. He added that the MMA veteran has a solid takedown defense as well. Sonnen also claimed Green’s counter-punching will come to good use when Makhachev tries to close the distance on him, leaving the Dagestani vulnerable to getting hit....

ESPN’s Ariel Helwani was the first to report the matter on Wednesday saying that Ortega has officially withdrawn from the fight on UFC’s last event this year. However, he had maintained that the details of the injury remained undisclosed. Now Ortega released a statement on Instagram clarifying that he withdrew from the fight due to an ACL tear he suffered while training for the fight against Korean Zombie. What’s the story? Former UFC lightweight title contender Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone lost the title fight against Rafael Dos Anjos in December 2015. After dropping the title fight, ‘Cowboy’ moved up to welterweight division in 2016, and has not lost a fight yet. He finished all four opponents he faced in the division, earning three ‘performance of the night’ bonus. Riding on the back of such amazing performances, he quickly moved from being unranked to #5 fighter in UFC welterweight division....

Werdum has been out of action since 2018 after being handed a 2-year suspension for a failed USADA drug test. The 42-year-old veteran is focussed on returning to the Octagon in 2020 and has the intention of shocking the world with his performance upon his comeback. Werdum stood firm on his innocence and is aching to fight again as soon as his suspension comes to an end. Taking a cue from Henry Cejudo, Werdum believes that he should also be called ‘Triple C’ as he has been a champion in different disciplines of fighting....
