Robert Whittaker’s title loss at UFC 243
On October 6th, 2019, Robert Whittaker made his return to the Octagon for the first time since his rematch against Yoel Romero at UFC 225. Upon his return to the Octagon, Whittaker faced rising middleweight star Israel Adesanya in a title unification bout but things didn’t go according to the plan for ‘The Reaper’ as he ended up losing the fight via a second-round knockout.
Robert Whittaker not too disappointed with title loss
The former champion stated that he is not too disappointed with the loss against Adesanya because there were a lot of expectations and self-imposed pressure on ‘The Reaper’ which he didn’t necessarily agree with. (H/T: MMA Mania)
Further, Whittaker admitted that he always loves being the guy whom people write off as an underdog and he likes the struggle and the challenge to prove his detractors wrong.
